Terms and Conditions – Cenote Dive Tour

Last updated: April 19, 2025

By booking any of our services, the customer fully accepts these terms and conditions, which govern the use and purchase of services offered by Cenote Dive Tour.

1. Reservations and Payments

To secure your spot, a minimum deposit of $40 USD per diver is required.

The full amount must be paid before the first dive.

We accept payments via PayPal, credit cards, cash (MXN, USD, EUR), Wise, and other methods that may be enabled in the future.

All rates are subject to change without prior notice, except when a booking has already been confirmed.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

In case of bad weather or unforeseen external factors that prevent the activity, 100% of the amount paid will be refunded.

Customers may request a full refund if cancellation is made at least 48 hours prior to the start of the service.

Cancellations within 48 hours of the tour or in case of a “No Show” are not eligible for a refund.

Refunds are processed using the same method of the original payment.

3. Transportation

The service includes round-trip transportation from your hotel or residence in Playa del Carmen to the dive site and back.

Pickups in other areas (from Cancún to Tulum) are available with an additional charge depending on location.

Customers are encouraged to provide their exact location when booking to ensure proper logistics.

4. Diving Requirements

For cavern or overhead environment dives, a minimum certification of Open Water Diver is required.

We also offer the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program for uncertified individuals, allowing them to safely and supervisedly experience diving.

Each dive guide accompanies a maximum of 4 divers per dive. If a private experience is not booked, customers will share the group with other divers.

Private tours are available upon request and are subject to an additional fee.

5. Policy for Minors

Minors aged 10 to 15 may participate only with a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian.

We reserve the right to deny participation based on the minor’s physical condition or safety considerations.

Minors must be accompanied at all times by a parent, legal guardian, or a responsible adult throughout the duration of the activity.

6. Conduct and Safety

The consumption of alcohol or drugs before or during the trip or dive is strictly prohibited.

If a customer arrives under the influence of alcohol or any substance, they will be denied access to the tour without a refund.

Any behavior that puts at risk the customer’s safety, the equipment, other participants, or staff will result in immediate expulsion from the activity and may be reported to the authorities. No refunds will be granted in such cases.

Any form of aggressive, threatening, harassing, or disrespectful behavior—including verbal abuse, insults, or any kind of harassment—towards the dive guide, the driver, other participants, or any staff member will result in the immediate cancellation of the activity without any right to refund. If necessary, local authorities will be contacted to ensure the safety and integrity of all involved.

7. Insurance and Liability

IMPORTANT: Cenote Dive Tour does not currently include medical or accident insurance as part of its services. Customers are strongly encouraged to have valid travel or dive insurance that covers aquatic activities in Mexico.

During the land transportation included in our services, passengers are covered by the vehicle’s insurance, in accordance with Mexican regulations. This insurance provides basic coverage in case of an accident, which may include medical expenses for occupants, legal assistance, and compensation for injuries, depending on the provider’s policy.

8. Legal Matters

Any legal dispute related to the contracted services will be resolved exclusively under Mexican jurisdiction, with representation in the states of Quintana Roo or Mexico City.

The customer agrees that any legal proceedings must be conducted according to these terms, regardless of their nationality or country of residence.

9. Final Notes

There is no minimum number of participants required to operate a tour. However, for large groups or multi-day bookings, special pricing may apply (please inquire when booking).

These terms and conditions are subject to change. The applicable version will be the one published on our website at the time of booking.

10. Nature of the Activity and Associated Risks

Scuba diving—particularly cavern diving—is considered a high-risk activity that requires preparation, responsibility, and a suitable physical condition.

The experiences offered by Cenote Dive Tour take place in natural environments located away from urban areas, often accessed through rural roads or jungle trails, and exposed to elements such as humidity, high temperatures, uneven terrain, and local wildlife. These conditions can present additional challenges for individuals with certain physical limitations or medical conditions.

Additionally, the physical demands of cavern diving are significant, both technically and mentally, and require participants to remain attentive to the guide’s instructions and the surrounding environment at all times.

By booking and participating in our activities, the customer acknowledges and accepts the inherent risks associated with this type of experience and confirms they are in appropriate physical and mental condition to engage in it voluntarily and responsibly.
