Depths describe the recreational profile we dive, not the cenote's maximum depth. Requirements are minimum guidelines; the final choice also depends on your recent experience, buoyancy, comfort and the day's conditions.
What you'll experience
Formations on every side.
Taak Bi Ha is an enclosed cavern with white limestone formations, stalactites and columns close around you. Natural light is limited compared with open cenotes, and beyond the entrances your dive light carries the dive.
The profile stays around 8 m, with frequent small depth changes. What makes it an expert-only site is not depth but the density of the formations: careful buoyancy, a stable body position and constant awareness of what is above, below and beside you protect both the diver and the cavern.

Certification is only part of it. Depth alone doesn't make a cenote easy or hard — passage size, light, distance from the entrance and fragile formations matter too.
CREER level

CDT requirements
- Advanced Open Water or equivalent
- Diving within the previous 6 months (otherwise a refresher dive at Casa Cenote may be recommended or required)
- A prior dive with CDT at Casa Cenote or another suitable lower-level cenote, so your guide can see your buoyancy, control and comfort first
Minimum age 15. Level per the CREER classification framework, used as a reference — not a progression you must complete in order.
The CREER level describes the site's relative character and difficulty; it is not a progression you must complete in order. Within CDT's requirements, your guide also considers recent experience, buoyancy and control, comfort, the day's conditions and the planned profile.
An 8 m profile does not make this an easy dive. CDT asks for a prior dive with CDT first so your guide can see your buoyancy, body position and comfort — not a test, and not a CREER rule.
