Dive into two unique caverns, link up with Cenote Rainbow, and experience astonishing light shows in crystal-clear waters. Chikin Ha is the perfect cavern-diving adventure for Open Water+ divers seeking more than just an underwater tour.
Discover the Hidden Magic of Cenote Chikin Ha
Just 10 km south of Puerto Aventuras, Cenote Chikin Ha features two independent dive lines connected by the spectacular Cenote Rainbow.
Limestone passageways and light shafts piercing crystal-clear water create a surreal landscape worthy of the Yucatán Peninsula’s finest caverns.
Route 1 – West Line (Surface Exit at Rainbow)
Begin by descending to 14 m (46 ft) and proceeding through a wide tunnel lined with columns and stalactites. At the midpoint, you’ll ascend to the surface inside the cenote—emerging into the jungle. You’ll spend a few minutes there admiring the surroundings and listening as the guide explains the local flora, fauna, and history. When you’re ready, you’ll return along the same underwater route to the starting point.
Route 2 – East Line (Light and Shadow Circuit)
This route first takes you through passages illuminated by natural light beams, highlighting ancient formations. Instead of pausing at Cenote Rainbow, you’ll cross its chamber and continue to the cavern’s end—where the underwater landscape widens and the feeling of deep immersion grows even stronger. This slightly longer circuit delivers a different dive: you’ll have extra time to explore hidden alcoves, admire uncommon columns and stalagmites, and enjoy a fuller experience before returning via the same path to the starting point.

General Overview
Activity Itinerary
1. Pickup and Transportation
Pickup Time: 8:00 a.m.
Location: Your hotel or residence
Destination: Cenote Chikin Ha
2. Dive Preparation
Upon arrival at the cenote, we conduct a detailed safety briefing, equipment check and explanation of the two routes we will travel. We emphasize the importance of buoyancy control and proper technique to protect the delicate formations of the site.
3. First Immersion
Maximum depth: 14 meters (46 feet)
We start with the first of two cavern dives in the Chikin Ha system. This line leads us through limestone tunnels illuminated by beams of natural light filtering through the cracks in the ceiling. During the tour, we cross the Rainbow Cenote, a wide and magical space that connects both routes. The diversity of formations and the contrasts of light make this dive an unforgettable visual experience.
4. Break and Refreshment
After the first dive, a rest under the jungle is offered. Water, fruits, snacks and a sandwich are included. If you have special dietary needs, do not hesitate to inform us in advance to customize your experience.
5. Second Immersion
Maximum depth: 14 meters (46 feet)
The second dive explores another line of the same system, also through the Rainbow Cenote. In this route, we surface inside the cenote, where the diver can admire the connection between the cavern and the outside: a moment of impressive pause after going through silent and closed tunnels. The rock formations, columns and narrow passages create an atmosphere charged with beauty and mystery, ideal for those seeking a deeper encounter with the subway world.
6. Return
At the end of both dives, we return to your hotel or residence. This concludes a day of underwater exploration between light, rock and jungle, in one of the most complete and enveloping cenotes in the region.
