The Pit + Dos ojos

The Pit Cenote

Located in the heart of the Dos Ojos system, The Pit is one of the deepest and most spectacular cenotes in the region, with a depth that exceeds 40 meters (over 131 feet). The descent begins through a narrow opening that leads to a colossal underwater dome, where visibility allows you to admire the entire structure from the center. At 27 meters, the diver passes through a layer of hydrogen sulfide enveloped in a white mist, creating a surreal atmosphere. Sunlight penetrates vertically from the surface, forming a dramatic beam of light that illuminates the interior as if it were an underwater cathedral. This experience is ideal for advanced divers looking for an intense, magical and visually stunning dive.

Dos Ojos Cenote

Dos Ojos is one of the most famous and accessible cenotes in the Riviera Maya, known for its incredible visibility and extensive underwater tunnels. Its name comes from the two circular entrances that connect a shared cavern system. Divers can choose between two fascinating dive routes: the “Barbie Line”, with huge columns, stalactites and stalagmites in crystal clear water, or the “Bat Cave”, a darker and more enigmatic route that leads to an aerial dome inhabited by bats. This flexibility makes it ideal for both newly certified and experienced cave divers, providing a safe, guided dive full of natural wonders.

3. Immersion in The Pit Cenote

Maximum depth: 30 meters (98 feet)

The Pit is a deep, oval, vertical-entry cenote, considered one of the most spectacular in the region. Upon descending, the diver is suspended in an immense underwater dome illuminated by a dramatic beam of light that pierces the water column from the surface. At 27 meters, a dense layer of hydrogen sulfide is encountered, enveloping the surroundings in an eerie white haze. This dive offers a magical atmosphere, ideal for advanced divers looking for an unforgettable experience in the depths.

4. Rest and Refreshment

After the first dive, a break is offered to recover energy. Water, fruits, snacks and sandwiches are included.

5. Transfer and second dive at Dos Ojos Cenote.

After the break, we made a short transfer within the park itself, since Dos Ojos cenote is very close to The Pit, facilitating logistics and making the most of the exploration time.

Approximate depth: 8 meters (26 feet)

Dos Ojos offers two cavernous diving routes between passages decorated with columns, stalactites and stalagmites. The diver can choose between the “Barbie Line”, with spacious rooms and impressive natural lighting, or the “Bat Cave”, a darker and more immersive route that leads to an aerial chamber inhabited by bats. Both options provide a visually rich, safe and expertly guided experience.

6. Return

At the end of the second dive, we return to your hotel or residence. This concludes an unforgettable day of diving in two of the most iconic cenotes of the region, located within the Dos Ojos Park.
