Orquidea cenote diving & Chikin Ha – Underground adventure of light and mystery
Spend a full day connecting with nature through Orquidea cenote diving and the crystalline magic of Chikin Ha. This tour blends two stunning settings in the Mayan jungle: first, a deep and enigmatic environment; then, a portal of light where roots descend into the water to create a fascinating natural display.
First dive: Cenote Orquidea
We start at Cenote Orquidea, a deep and serene site wrapped in lush jungle. As you enter, natural light reveals an emerald mirror hiding a hypnotic world below the surface. On the descent you’ll reach 33 meters (108 ft), crossing a sulfur cloud that separates two water layers and creates a mystical, almost unreal effect—signature Orquidea cenote diving.
At the bottom, huge stalactites, submerged logs, and natural debris shape an ancient, silent landscape—like a forgotten garden underground. Diving here means entering one of the most enigmatic cenote settings in the Riviera Maya.
Second dive: Cenote Chikin Ha
Next we head to Chikin Ha, the perfect place to feel the transition between open water and the cavern system. Its crystal-clear water reveals tree roots—known as “elephant feet”—that reach down through the earth into the cenote.
Here you’ll experience a spectacular halocline where fresh and salt water blend to create an almost hypnotic visual effect. It’s a relaxed, colorful dive—ideal if you want a technical yet peaceful experience surrounded by living nature and classic Chikin Ha cenote diving scenery.
Conditions & recommended level
Both dives deliver a balanced mix of depth, light, and connection with nature. With visibility over 30 meters (98 ft) and an average temperature of 24 °C (75 °F), Orquidea cenote diving is deeper and therefore requires Advanced Open Water. That makes the entire tour—including Chikin Ha—ideal for Advanced Open Water divers seeking a safe, well-balanced blend of adventure and enjoyment.
Complementary tours: Zapote + Kin Ha
