At 30 m (98 ft) a dense hydrogen-sulfide cloud forms the famous underwater “river.” Beneath it, a mound of sediments rises like a ghostly island dotted with trunks, roots, and ancient remains. With 40 m+ visibility and total depth near 60 m (197 ft), Angelita is for advanced divers seeking something otherworldly—floating in twilight and silence with the sensation of being suspended in another realm.
Carwash Cenote (Aktun Ha) — Garden of lilies and beams of light
With a maximum depth of 15 m (49 ft), Carwash features crystal-clear water, surface lilies, and fish and turtles weaving through natural light beams. It blends an open-water area with a shallow cavern section—ideal for Open Water divers, underwater photography, and wildlife watching. Birds and even land turtles sometimes dive in to hunt or cool off, creating lively, colorful scenes.

Daily Plan
A day that goes beyond the ordinary: from the hypnotic depths of Angelita to Carwash’s bright, nature-filled setting. Two complementary dives designed for those who want the purest expression of cenote diving.
Pickup and Transportation
We start with pickup at your hotel or residence at 8:00 a.m. From Playa del Carmen we head south, pass Tulum, and continue about 25 minutes to Cenote Angelita. The road cuts through dense jungle—an ideal prelude to the mystical world awaiting underground.
Dive Preparation
Before entering the water, we give a full safety and cavern-techniques briefing. Your certified guide will check your gear, explain site-specific conditions, and review underwater communication. As with all our tours, dives are led by Full Cave Divers (TDI/SDI), ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
First Dive: Cenote Angelita
Maximum depth: 33 meters (104 ft)
The Angelita dive stays with you. At 30 m (104 ft) a dense hydrogen-sulfide cloud forms an underwater “river,” wrapping you in twilight and silence. Beneath it, a sediment mound rises like a floating hill among submerged roots and trunks. With 40 m+ visibility and a surreal mood, this is a deep, contemplative dive—perfect for Advanced divers seeking a genuine connection with the underground world.
Surface Interval and Refreshments
After the first dive we pause to hydrate, enjoy fruit and light snacks, and debrief. Then we drive to a nearby site by Tulum: Cenote Carwash (Aktun Ha), a completely different, life-filled environment.
Second Dive: Cenote Carwash (Aktun Ha)
Maximum depth: 15 meters (49 ft)
Carwash welcomes divers with crystal water and a lily-pad garden at the surface. Sunbeams light fish, turtles, and rock formations, creating a serene, colorful scene. The dive blends open water with a small cavern section—great for Open Water divers with solid buoyancy. It’s the perfect balance of cavern mystique and vibrant life, beautifully complementing the Angelita cenote dive.
Return
After both dives we return to your hotel or residence. You’ll carry the feeling of two contrasting worlds: Angelita’s hypnotic, silent depth and Carwash’s luminous energy. A full day of discovery, nature, and Angelita cenote diving you’ll never forget.
